加拿大首兩宗武漢肺炎在多倫多確診。武漢肺炎,又名新型冠狀病毒肺炎,跟 2003年在亞洲肆虐的「沙士」 “SARS” 十分相近。疫情原先在中國武漢華南海鮮市場爆發,由於該病毒具傳染性,加上中國防疫失利,至今已有超過二千人受感染,病毒廣泛散播,導致全球恐慌。為求自保,不少市民四出蒐購防疫用品,藥房和超市的口罩,消毒洗手液都被搶購一空。
由於病毒能由空氣傳播,故難以完全避免危機。除了帶口罩外,我們還要定時洗手,減少觸摸自己的臉部,時刻提高警覺,並減少到人多擠逼的地方。患者一開始只會有一般流感的症狀,如發燒,咳嗽,有痰等,故容易令患者錯判形勢,延誤就診。當患者意識到症狀開始惡化,往往已經病入膏肓,難以治理。因此若要有效抗疫,除了做足防護措施,還要改善生活習慣,注意飲食和多運動,以保持一個強建的免疫系統,才能保護自己,保護身邊的人。

Surgical face masks and hand sanitisers in a lot of pharmacies and supermarkets are sold out.
Since the virus is airborne, it is hard to contain. Other than wearing masks, we should wash our hands thoroughly and limit the contact with one’s face. Moreover, staying away from crowded places lowers the risk of infection. With an incubation period of around 2 weeks, the virus shows symptoms like a common cold in the beginning, worsening into pneumonia, organ failure and death. We should also have a balanced diet and exercise regularly in order to boost our immune system.
